I will try to synthesize something...
Everyone agrees to name orthologs with a species identiifier. One issue is to use three letters for species identifiers.

Another issue is whether names like cby get retired.

Most contentious is the exact form of the classically defined genes. Personally, I would be happy with cbrgene-1 because I would just write 1 on my plate.
