2006 EMBO Caenorhabditis Evolution Workshop

We are happy to announce the first international workshop dedicated to the study of evolution with Caenorhabditis species. The workshop will be held at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia in Oeiras, 20km from Lisbon, Portugal. A reception will take place on the May 23rd.

Session Topics
The program will encompass several sessions on diverse topics such as:

  • breeding system evolution and male function;
  • genotypic distributions during inbreeding and adaptation to novel environments;
  • genetics of complex characteristics;
  • intra and inter-specific developmental genetics of vulva differentiation, sex determination, behavior and host-parasite interactions.

    A session will also be dedicated to Caenorhabditis evolutionary biology resources.

    Registration
    We plan to host approximately 50 participants. If you would like to attend, please send a brief description of your research together with a title and abstract of a 30 minute talk or poster to Henrique Teotónio on or before January 15, 2006.

    Registration Fees
    Academic participants No fee
    Commercial participants 450 euros
    Accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered for all participants
    Travel Aid Grants
    European Researchers 20 grants of 350 euros
    Non-European Researchers 5 grants of 700 euros
    Preference given to early-stage researchers (PhDs and PostDocs)
